When you first start taking an interest in learning to drive there are many questions that may be unanswered. Here are just some of the questions that Apollo instructors are asked on a regular basis ...

Can I have the same instructor for all my lessons?
Yes. Only in exceptional circumstances, for example if your instructor is ill or changes career, should we need to change your instructor.
Will my instructor smoke during my lesson?
No. Our code of conduct does not permit instructors to smoke during your lesson.
Can I book a two-hour lesson?
Lessons are booked and tuition costs quoted by the hour, but lessons lasting two hours can be arranged. In many cases longer lessons are preferable and recommended. After your first lesson you should book further lessons with your instructor at a time to suit you.
Do lessons in the evening and at the weekends cost the same as in the daytime during weekdays?
After the first session, if you require weekend lessons there is a supplement of ?1.75 per hour.
Do you offer Automatic driving lessons?
Yes. Our automatic training vehicles are very easy to drive. View our current lesson prices for more information.
I have been let down by another driving school and my test is in a week. What can I do?
Subject to availability, we will book you in for an assessment lesson. The assessment is designed to see if you can get used to another car in time and to check your general driving. Your instructor reserves the right to refuse the use of his car for your driving test if you are not up to driving test standard.
I am not sure if I am ready to take my test. Can I take a mock test?
Yes. We recommend you take a mock test 3-4 weeks before your real test, before a decision is made if you are ready to take your real test or not.
I need to take an extended driving test. Can you help?
Yes. Our extended test is likely to be over an hour long, usually 70 minutes, and your driving examiner is looking for a very high standard of driving. Once your disqualification period has ceased you can apply for a provisional licence. Your driving lessons will be booked with one of our experienced instructors. We recommend two hour lessons. Please call our office for further information.
Will I have to share my lessons or pick up the next pupil during my instruction?
No. You will receive personal, one-to-one instruction at all times.
Can I get picked up and dropped off at different addresses?
Yes, however, it is best to make these arrangements with your instructor before your lesson starts. Your instructor will endeavour to help where possible providing the addresses aren't too far away.
How many lessons will I need?
There is no set number - The number of lessons you need can depend on:

* How quickly you learn
* Age of the pupil taking the lessons
* How often you are taught
* The length of your lessons
* The amount of practice you get

Your instructor will monitor your progress and advise you when to put in for your test.
Do you teach intensive courses?
Yes we do offer intensive courses. There are options available to you, please view our Lessons/Courses Available page or call our office to discuss your requirements.
I'm really nervous about learning to drive.
Don't worry if you're feeling anxious about learning to drive. Our friendly instructors will understand this and will soon put you at ease.
Do you offer refresher lessons? If so, how much do they cost?
If you've already passed your test and need to brush up on your skills, we can offer you a refresher course. Lessons remain at our standard learner lessons rate, and recommend you book 5-10 lessons. However your instructor will discuss your requirements with you on your first lesson.
I want to buy ten lessons for my daughters birthday. Do you offer vouchers?
Yes! Our vouchers for Christmas or Birthdays are very popular! You can buy our vouchers of most values. However, our vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Vouchers must be paid for in advance. We do offer a postal service.
Can I learn to drive on an international licence?
In certain circumstances you are permitted to drive for one year before having to take the UK driving test. However if you wish to change to a full UK driving licence, you will usually have to take the theory and driving test. Please see the DVLA web site for further details on rules concerning international licences.
Will I need to book the theory and practical test myself?
The practical and theory tests are an arrangement between you and the Driving Standards Agency, but our instructors will be happy to help you book your test. Further information about booking your test can be found on the DSA web site.
